Burst Your Bubble Awareness Campaign (BYBAC)
This three day project was executed in March 2006 by the Stellenbosch University Chapter. This campaign is an awareness campaign with the idea that people (and students!) often live in a "comfort bubble" and are not always aware of the seriousness of the challenges that faces our global community. More then 400 balloons were used and MDG-related statistics were placed in the balloons. During lunch hour on campus, students were asked by other students to "burst their comfort bubble" by bursting a balloon. A reality check in the form of local and global MDG statistics were found in the balloon.
This was a very effective project to do. It is interactive, colourful and fun and gets thought-provoking information through to people. It is also an inexpensive campaign to do, since the only cost incurred was that of the balloons, which if bought in bulk, is not expensive.
