Holding Student Discussions : The Association has embarked on presenting a number of student discussions. These are held roughly every other month and are intended to be multidisciplinary in nature, with students, lecturers and other interested individuals from varying academic backgrounds being invited to discuss relevant issues related to the workings of the UN. So far, the following topics that have been discussed are: the UN and Genocide, Reform of the UN Security Council; and the Millennium Development Goals. |

Working Committees: A number of Working Committees have been established to supplement the manpower of the Steering Committee. The majority of members are involved in the various committees, with the basic idea behind them being to a) assist the Steering Committee in organising the various UNA-SA activities; and b) to get the members more involved in the running of the Association to enable a smooth transition period when the present Steering Committee members terms end. |

Future Activities

UN Careers Day: The Association is to hold a career day to highlight the opportunities available at the United Nations. This is ultimately aimed at students from a wide-array of disciplines in compliance with the needs of the UN in general. As such, it is the aim of this to show that the Organisation employs and needs people from all backgrounds in order to achieve the goals of international cooperation and solidarity. The day will include, amongst other things, speakers from the UN who hold degrees in various disciplines and an information video on working for the UN. |

 |
Informing the Media: So as to directly involve the members, the Association hopes to run a series of articles on the activities and progress of the UNA-SA and on issues relevant to the UN system in general. These will be run through the campus newspaper, Die Perdeby , and will hopefully attract collaboration between students of various disciplines, e.g. journalism and IR, and inform those students not aware of the happenings of the UNA-SA/UN. |
